The Single Greatest Cause Of Atheism

The single greatest cause of atheism in the world today is Christians, who acknowledge Jesus with their lips, then walk out the door, and deny Him by their lifestyle. That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable - Brennan Manning

I love this quote.  It is actually quoted before one of my favorite DC Talk songs.  It is a very interesting thing to think about.  If we have been brought out of our sins by the death of Christ, then shouldn't our lives reflect that?  There are a lot of people who go into Church on Sunday, and then go about their lives on Monday.  Jesus desires to not only be our Savior, but also our King.  If we crown him as our King, then he will bring us into conformity with him.  The Apostle Paul says that we should not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of our minds through Jesus.  James says, that faith without works is dead faith.  What does that say for Christian that deny Christ as soon as they leave the Church?  A person's conversion is a radical transformation.  The old life has been crucified with Christ.  We are resurrected into to new life.  That new life is in Christ.  How could we ever go back to the old way of doing things?  If you remember the old song from Sunday School, it says trust and obey.  I think we are all too ready to trust Jesus.  When it comes to the obey part, we try to put it off.  Not now God, we say.  I am having too much fun right now.  Is that a real faith?  Or are we like God described the Jews?  Are our hearts far from Christ?  We await the day when Jesus will come as our King, but we should live each day like he has already taken the throne.  He has!  The Father has told him sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool.  If the Father has thought to honor him as such, then why are we so reluctant to acknowledge his rightful place in our lives?  Coming to Christ is a radical decision.  We have to be willing to accept and submit to all that it means.  We must be willing to walk out of the Church and take Jesus to work on Monday!
