What can I know

Of that great cost

To bind oneself

And hold nothing back

To follow after

And lay all down

To hold not my life

Too great a cost

Never shall I face

The hungry jaws of wild beasts

Nor feel the sting

Of whip upon flesh

Never to smell the martyr's fire

Could this faith be as real

For I shall never know

How dear I hold these truths

Till at last the may be

A life and death decision
