Who Am I

Who am I

Weak and fallen

To warrant such favor

Overcome with weakness

And absorbed by my failings

That God of God

Divinity clothed as man

Should bear my shame

To face unflinching

Rejection of the Father

Such unwarranted love

Such undeserved grace

Physical death excruciating

But pales in light

Of such deep sorrow

Despair unimaginable

When it was finished

He bore the Father's wrath

Like darkness overtaking

And icy breeze blowing

All the noise and fury

Descended upon the Son

The Great Awful Dread of Sinai

Fell upon the cross

The sorrow of Divine alienation

Addressed through Divine condescension
