I was driving today and saw a couple of guys working on a Chevy Cavalier. They were adding custom door panels to the car. I really don't understand what guys are thinking. I think it is absolutely retarded to spend so much money to cover up a crappy car. I see people spend all this money for body kits and hood scoops and custom wheels. It never changes the underlying car. No matter how much money a guy spends on custom trim, underneath it is still just a Cavalier or an Accord.
It reminds me of the old saying, "you can put lipstick on a pig." Until something is changed at the fundamental level, then it is just window dressing in an outhouse. Just a pretty way to help people forget they are sitting over a hole full of crap.
Have you ever seen the movie "Shallow Hal"? When he gets the opportunity to see people as they are in their core, then the girl who we would be on an outward sense attractive is a hideous old lady. I was thinking about this today. Mary Kay, herself, could not sell enough make-up to make up for a nasty hearted person. You know the type of people I am talking about. They just think they are something special. They maybe attractive in one sense, but it takes only a moment of talking to them to find out they are not attractive at all.
Sometimes, Christianity gets passed off as a list of dos and don'ts. Sure there are things that you ought not do, but it is so much more than that. People could go to church every week. They could abstain from all worldly pleasures. They could cut themselves off from the all the wickedness around them and still be nothing more than a white washed tomb. Everything looks good on the outside, but on the inside is dead men's bones. Christianity is so much more than a list of dos and don'ts. It is an answer to that hole full of crap that we have been trying to hide with pretty curtains. The problem has never been on the outside and so an outside solution will never do the trick. There has to be a fundamental change at our very core. Until then you are just pimping out a crappy car!
