How many persons are there in the one God?
Three persons are in the one God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are one God, the same in substance and equal in power in glory.
A mystery of our faith is the existence of three equal and distinct persons within the one true God. It is said that Saint Patrick used the shamrock to teach the heather of Ireland the truth of the trinity. Each person is completely equal with the others in power, glory, and volition. Each can act in times and places distinct from the others, but their actions will always conform to the will of God and to the character of God. This is the perfect unity of the Godhead. Because each is completely God, they will always perfectly conform to the character of God. Each person of the Godhead remains completely and perfectly holy.
