Dimensions Of Faith At Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary #ChristianBlogger

I am not a theologian.  I would never presume to project that.  My doctrine is a jumbled mess of several different traditions.  I was raised in a fundamentalist Baptist background.  I went to a Baptist college for several years.  I was a bible student for several years, but like so many other things in my life, I never completed that course of study.  I stopped short of the theology courses.  I believe that is big part of my struggle.

I don't think that I would ever be able to complete a seminary degree.  I just don't believe that I have the drive to attempt something so challenging.  However, I have been thinking that it would be interesting and helpful to do a little self-study of theology or the Bible.  I began looking for a program that would be free or low-cost, where I could study at my own pace and fill my head with more nourishing thoughts, than I will ever get from binge watching Investigation Discovery.  I have come to the conclusion that those programs always end in the same manner.  There is a killer and then he is caught.  In the process of watching I am filling my heart with all the wretchedness and man and losing sight of the amazing grace of God.  When we see how wicked our fellow-man can be, then we can lose track of both the amazing God we serve, and the beauty of his creation.

In my search, I discovered the Dimensions of Faith program through Gordon Conwell Seminary.  It is a series of ten "courses".  There are numerous lectures provided through ITunes, a discussion board, and a quiz.  When a student has completed all ten courses, then they are eligible to receive a Dimensions of Faith Certificate.  This certificate is not a degree or transferable.  In fact, in may be meaningful only to the person that receives it, but completion of the program can also qualify a person to apply for a scholarship to the seminary, if the Spirit so led.

I have begun my self-study in the program.  I will keep everyone informed.  I invite you to try.  What is the worse that could happen?  I wish you luck, and thank you for your readership.  It is not viral, but a devoted following is what keeps me doing the things that I do.  God bless.
